Work with us

Chaplaincy Director.

Full time from Summer/Autumn 2010.
Up to 26k depending on experience.

Christian input in schools needs to evolve to meet a changing context without losing a passion for sharing faith. We’re looking for the right person to lead our team of chaplains developing ground-breaking approaches to working in and beyond the curriculum.

We are passionate about not losing the context to talk directly about our faith in a school. Finding the right opportunity, tone and language to do that in a rapidly changing education system is the challenge we have set ourselves. Over the last five years we’ve been exploring how we can do this: reimagining many of the traditional contexts - like a school assembly - as well as finding new ones. Much has been achieved but there is plenty still to be explored and developed. Now we need someone to take us to the next stage of this journey, helping conceive and deliver Christian schools work for a new era.

It's an exciting role for someone with experience of working in schools who wants to challenge and stretch themselves by taking on the leadership of a team, and by thinking more deeply about the theology and practice of schools work.

This is also a senior post in LCET, working as part of our leadership team to develop our overall mission. You can download information about the role and an application form on this page and, if you'd like to know more, you can also contact Chris Curtis, the Chief Executive. We'd like to appoint someone as soon as possible so applications must be in by April 26th. We plan to hold interviews early May.

Cafe Chaplain.

Part time from Summer/Autumn 2010 (20 hours).
18-23k (pro rata) depending on experience.

LCET's building in the town centre comprises offices, a drop in cafe, drama studio and art facilities. It's the base for all of LCET’s work through it’s staff, and the cafe is regularly used after school for work with young people who have taken part in a therapeutic group, including an art programme for young people who self harm. The drama studio is also used for bigger youth events and activities. However, we have always had a wider vision for using the cafe as a point of contact with young people, especially as it is right in the heart of the town and easily accessible. We want to strategically link our work in schools with the chance to work with the same young people informally after school and at weekends. In the last two years of the project we have been able to establish a thriving café on Saturdays, to build a community of young people attending a discipleship group on Monday evenings and to create a series of monthly special events that attract increasingly large crowds.

We now want to find the right person to develop the cafe project to the next level. It's a challenge that gives the chance to lead and develop a crucial aspect of our with young people. The role is part time, for 20 hours a week. We expect this will normally include a Saturday and Monday, together with other hours which are more flexible. You can download information about the role and an application form on this page and, if you'd like to know more, you can also contact Chris Curtis, the Chief Executive. We'd like to appoint someone as soon as possible so applications must be in by April 26th. We plan to hold interviews early May.
