Compass is a brand new project for LCET, launching in October 2009 with the aim of helping young people who have left school but haven't gone on to something else (the common term used is 'NEET', not in employment, education or training). We're passionate about helping young people overcome some of the social and emotional barriers that they face to re-engage in their future. Often it's personal issues, like low self worth, that hold young people back from achieving their potential. That's where we want to make a positive difference.
Working with Campus Luton, we've developed two programme that we believe can make a real difference. Compass West is aimed at 16-19's and gives a chance to attend two day intensive 'super conferences' followed by personal support and mentoring. Compass East, South and North are all year-long programmes aimed at Year 9 students who are at risk of becoming NEET when they leave school.
Our new Compass team are working hard to launch and run these programmes and we believe they'll make a real difference to the young people who take part. If you'd like to find out more you can click the links on this page or contact the Project Director, Jason Royce, to find out more.
