Who are we

Who are we

So who are we and what can we offer your child?

LCET is first and foremost a local project, set up by a group of forty-five churches in 1993. Since then we're grown to become a larger organisation with many more paid staff and large premises in the town centre that includes a cafe for young people.

The project has a therapeutic team, working with young people who are facing some of the big issues that can come from being a teenager, like low self esteem, dealing with anger and self harm.

We also have a chaplaincy team working in schools to support spiritual development through a range of innovative projects and input into the curriculum.

Alongside this work in schools, our b.1 cafe and arts centre is a great place for young people to have fun, meet friends and learn new skills. The cafe is open after school on some weekdays and all day Saturdays. Specialist workshops in areas like art, photography or drama regularly take place during opening hours.

We also run weekends and summer camps for local teenagers throughout the year. They're incredibly popular and well known for their great mix of fun and adventure.

Much of the funding for our work comes from local donations and grant making trusts, like Children in Need. Where we do make a charge, on weekends and camps for example, we try to keep costs as low as possible.

We welcome enquiries from parents who want to ask questions or find out more about us. You can call or email or make an appointment to come in and meet one of our senior team. Elsewhere on this site you can also find out more about specific areas of our work, our safeguarding policies and what events we have coming up in the future.
